once learnt, nature bathing can change your life forever.
history
In Japanese, Shinrin-yoku means ‘forest-bathing’. The Japanese are to thank for this wonderful gift. Born in Japan in the late 1980’s the Japanese government were doing studies to try and put a stop to so much ‘Karoshi’ (death by overwork) through the scientific research studies, one scientist, named Dr Qi Ling, discovered, Forest Bathing.
science
Shinrin-Yoku is scientifically backed. There’s heaps of studies showing the positive impact a nature walk has on human health. One of the most promising studies shows how inhaling phytoncides on a 2-4 hour walk once a month can have as much impact as increasing NK cells (white blood cells) that prevents infection and disease. Other studies show increased happiness and better sleep. The UK even offers their own nature based walk prescriptions!
A nature bathing walk may just leave you feeling happier, relaxed and rested.
wellness
Nature for many years has been seen as a healer in many ancient cultures. With many medicines today also coming from plants. In the western world nature led health is often forgotten. Fortunately, nature bathing will help you re-discover the beauty in slowing down, noticing and learning from nature for a healthier, more mindful life.
curiosity
We ask you to come with curiosity, and we will guide you on a walk with a difference.
Walks are usually 2-3kms and 2-3 hours, which means you won’t we walking the whole time. They start with a nature led meditation and end with a tea circle. In between you will be guided on exploring nature in many new ways!
Feeling curious? Check out the calendar for our upcoming Nature Bathing walks.
Corporate Nature Bathing sessions can be adapted to suit the focus group. This may look like a 1-2 hour session in person or online. Please connect with us here to explore these options.
