BEST AUCKLAND WALKS
Auckland is a walkers paradise! The city has so much diversity, from quaint north shore coastal walks to inner city volcano views. A short drive out of the city you can discover some day gems. We’d recommend setting aside the whole day, there’s nothing like setting off at first light then returning home filled with joy from a truly adventurous day out! Here’s 3 of our fave days trips…
Pararaha Valley
This 2-3 hours out and back track in the Waitakere's is full of beautiful valley vistas and an open black sandy beach. Some moments will feel like you're on another planet. Take a picnic and enjoy a stop by the river half way before returning. This whole area is a photographers dream! Photo above - From the dunes looking at the entry to the valley. This track is currently closed due to the flooding in Jan 2023, however keep an eye out for its reopening in the near future!

Difficulty: Easy
Tip: This track is open to the elements on the beach take a hat & lots of water!
Sail from Auckland to Rotoroa in an hour and find yourself on a remote island paradise surrounded by wildlife and crystal clear water. Walk the whole island in a day or stop over night and try to spot a kiwi. You can walk the perimeter Island track in 4 hours or 5-6 with rests on the way.
Distance: 12-14km’s
Difficulty: Moderate
Tip: Some of the bays give way to sparkling snorkelling spots on a good day, check the weather before you go and take a snorkel with you if the ocean is forecast to be still!
North of Auckland, deep in the heart of magical Mangawhai, you'll find this beauty. Walking tracks upon walking tracks of deep bush and views across Waipu. Take the whole day and get lost in the scenery. Tanekaha Loop Track will take you 4 hours with a short break half-way round.
Distance: 9-10 km’s
Difficulty: Moderate - Hard (some tramping tracks)
Tip: Take your swim suit and dip in the waterfall pools after the walk or head to Mangawhai beach which is a short 10 minute drive away.
