Waiwera
Track: Unnamed, more of a wonder around the village!
Famous for its thermal resort which is now no more, Waiwera still has some hot spots you can find on the beach and dip your toes in! You can do a loop walk from the car park around the headland at low tide, up to the bridge and back along to your car. A quaint pub/restaurant is always open so you can head inside for some hot chips afterwards.
Distance: 4-5 km’s return
Difficulty: Easy
Tips: Go at low tide so you can feel the thermals under your feet on the beach.
Wenderholm
Track: Perimeter Track
Spend your morning at Wenderholm Regional Park and discover the many walking trails there. This route takes you through native bush, offering beautiful views of the Hauraki Gulf and the Puhoi River. You could also opt to spend a full day here and complete another beach side walk in the afternoon.
Distance: 5 km’s return
Difficulty: Moderate (take walking boots)
Tips: Double up your walks and visit Waiwera before/after Wenderholm, it’s only round the corner! Take a bbq in the summer to enjoy by the beach.
Warkworth
Track: Kowhai Park
For those days when a short 30 minute loop is all you need, head to Kowhai park where you’ll get your forest fix - don’t forget to breath in the air! We recommend heading into Warkworth town to the Hotel for a warm drink and bite to eat afterwards.
Distance: 2-3 km’s return
Difficulty: Easy
Tips: Walk from Kowhai park into Warkworth afterwards for an added loop (approx another 2-3ks!)
